Purchase and Play the New Alien Abduction Game for the Atari 2600 (30-60 mins)

Task: Purchase and Play the New Alien Abduction Game for the Atari 2600

Needed: Web Browser, Atari 2600 Console or Emulator

Time: 30-60 mins

Introduction

I have previously posted about the new Circus Convoy game for the Atari 2600 that was developed and produced by David Crane and Gary Kitchen of Audacity Games and previously of Activision. Audacity is out with a new game called Alien Abduction that was programmed by John Van Ryzin who previously authored H.E.R.O. for Activision. As with Circus Convoy, the graphics for this new game are stunning as expected for ex-Activision game developers.

The game is described as a spiritual successor to H.E.R.O. with the premise that you, the ‘hero’, need to save a princess from an alien spaceship. There are aliens to kill and traps to avoid. I have had a lot of fun giving it a try.

Instructions

Navigate to Audacity Games and purchase the game! Note that you need to create a login to see the purchasing information. The standard edition costs $60. A collector’s addition is available for $100 with a VIP version at $140. The more expensive ones include digital versions you can play on an emulator.

Comments

I played this on an Atari 2600+ so I could see the game in HDMI on an LED screen. To get it to play I first had to update the firmware on the console.

It really does have the look and feel of H.E.R.O.

As with their other games, there is a QR code to scan for uploading high scores.

Note that the game looks better than in the photo below. The characters are all animated with moving colors.
