Explore the Atari FTP Archive (15-30 mins)

Task: Explore the Atari FTP Archive

Needed: Web browser

Time: 15-30 mins or more

Introduction

Google is my favorite way to find files for my Atari 8-bit computers and consoles. However, there is something to be said for browsing archives of Atari-related material. I always find something interesting. I have previously posted about archives such as the Atari 8-Bit Software Preservation Initiative or the Homesoft collection. Here, I recommend browsing the extensive Atari ATP Archive with more than 800GB of material and over 900,000 files. The collection covers numerous different Atari systems including the 8-bit computers and the Atari STs.

Instructions

Navigate to the Atari FTP Archive and start browsing!

Comments

Note that the collection includes documents, magazines, newsletters, schematics, service manuals, datasheets, and books in addition to game and software files.

Several other archives are included here (e.g. Homesoft)

I recall this FTP site from years ago. I was reminded of it by a mention on the ANTIC podcast.
