Task: Watch the Documentary “Once Upon Atari”
Needed: Web browser
Time: 2 hours
Introduction
The Atari story from start to finish is an amazing one. Particularly interesting are the stories from the early days of Atari which stem from a very free and open management style which the programmers really liked. “Once Upon Atari” is a documentary of the early days of Atari and their open culture. This is a great inside look at Atari because it features interviews with the game programmers and staff from the early days. The video is hosted by Howard Scott Warshaw who was the programmer for multiple games including Yar’s Revenge and E.T. for the 2600.
